Welcome to the Richmond Railroad Museum!

No Santa Train excursions will be operating in 2024 or for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately we are no longer able to operate these beloved Holiday trains. The Museum and onsite equipment are decorated for the Holidays by Thanksgiving. Come on by!

Museum hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Richmond Railroad Museum is located in the restored historic Southern Railway Station at 102 Hull Street in Richmond, VA. The museum is located just south of the James River in the Manchester neighborhood. Plan to allow one hour for a full visit and guided tour of our air conditioned facility. Parking is free adjacent to the Museum.

Museum Archives

The museum houses an archival library containing thousands of historic photographs and documents pertaining the Southern, Norfolk and Western, and other railroads important to the history of railroading in Virginia. This resource is available only by special appointment. Below are a small sample of the historic Southern Railway photos we have available.
